Maggie Pollard

Board Vice Chair

Maggie Pollard brings a deep, personal commitment to the veteran community, rooted in her service as a U.S. Air Force captain. Today, she is a Managing Director at Accenture Federal Services, where she advises senior military leaders on critical modernization efforts. Her professional experience directly aligns with the mission, having led large-scale efforts to modernize the VA’s GI Bill® benefits and advance healthcare for the Military Health System. Maggie earned her MBA from Marist College, where she successfully established a Military Incentive Scholarship Program.

Norm Cooling

Board Vice Chair

Brigadier General Norman L. “Norm” Cooling, USMC (Ret), Ed.D. is the President/Founder of N. L. Cooling Strategic Consulting. His 33 years of active-duty service included 11 deployments and five combat tours as an infantry commander and operations officer. Norm served as the deputy chief operating officer for both the Marine Corps and U.S. European Command. He commanded ground combat task forces in both eastern Afghanistan and Al Anbar, Iraq. In addition to his consulting work, Norm is on the faculty of Johns-Hopkins University. He holds a doctorate in educational leadership. He volunteers as a board director for Veterans Bridge Home, a Blue and Gold Officer for the U.S. Naval Academy, and a member of the Board of Ambassadors for High Point University.

Laura Garrison

Board Treasurer

Laura Garrison is a seasoned finance and strategy executive with more than 30 years of experience leading multibillion-dollar business segments and high-growth organizations. She has served in business-unit CFO and senior strategy roles within Fortune 50 companies, guiding complex businesses through transformation and disciplined growth. Laura brings deep expertise in financial governance, enterprise risk management, investment oversight and strategic planning. She holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Kansas and an MBA from the University of Texas at Dallas. Laura is deeply committed to community service. In addition to Veterans Bridge Home, she serves on the boards of the Hope at the Lake Foundation and Shepherd Center.

Seth Wheeler

Board Secretary

Col. Wheeler, a retired U.S. Army Green Beret colonel, proudly served his country for more than 25 years, 18 of those dedicated to the Special Operations community. His notable roles include Special Forces detachment command in 5th Special Forces Group, Special Forces Battalion Commander, and chief of staff of the United States Army Special Operations Command’s Force Modernization Center. He spent more than 36 months conducting special combat operations in Southwest Asia between 2004 to 2012. Col. Wheeler served as a National-Level Malcom Baldrige Business Performance Excellence Examiner for the nation’s top performing private sector companies in 2019. Col. Wheeler works with Rockefeller Global Family Office and Capital Management as a Private Wealth Advisor and Certified Financial Planner®, assisting high-net worth families with advanced financial planning. Col. Wheeler holds a Master of Science in defense analysis with a focus on irregular warfare from the Naval Postgraduate School and a Bachelor of Science from Northern Arizona University. Col. Wheeler remains actively involved with the Charlotte Economics Club, the Exit Planning Exchange, the Private Director’s Association, the World Affairs Council of Charlotte. Outside his professional life, Col. Wheeler is a devoted father to two adult children and remains an active advanced SCUBA diver.

Garen Marshall

Board Member

Garen Marshall is a Partner in McGuireWoods LLP’s Government Investigations and White Collar Litigation Department, where he advises companies and executives on complex enforcement, compliance, and regulatory matters across a broad range of industries. A former federal prosecutor and combat veteran, Garen previously served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of New York and as a U.S. Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician. He has long supported veteran communities, including by advocating for expanded Yellow Ribbon Program funding for student veterans nationwide, leading veteran organizations at NYU Law and Skadden Arps, providing pro bono legal representation to veterans, and serving as McGuireWoods’ Veterans Pro Bono Coordinator. His commitment to Veterans Bridge Home reflects his belief that effective veteran outcomes and advocacy require strong coordination among public, private, and nonprofit partners.

Randi Palmere

Randi Palmere is a dynamic leader in the field of business continuity and operational resiliency, serving as the Global Response and Third-Party Business Continuity and Operational Resiliency Executive at Bank of America. With over 20 years of experience in financial services and operations, Randi leads enterprise-wide strategies that ensure preparedness and stability in times of disruption. In addition to her global responsibilities, she serves as the Charlotte Business Integration Market Leader for Global Strategy and Enterprise Platforms (GSEP), where she focuses on community partnerships, talent engagement, and local impact. Randi is also the co-executive sponsor of the Charlotte Military Support and Assistance Group, supporting the transition and employment of veterans and military spouses. Her dedication to inclusive leadership and resilient communities aligns directly with the mission of Veterans Bridge Home to connect, lead, and advocate for veterans and their families throughout the Carolinas.

Sean Reilly

Board Member

Sean Reilly is the Regional Vice President for the Charlotte Metro Area, where he is responsible for driving profitable sales growth and providing strategic leadership to the region’s store and field teams. He joined Lowe’s in 2004. With more than 25 years of retail experience, Sean has held a variety of leadership roles across the organization. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Tool Rental, where he led the strategic planning, integration, and execution of Lowe’s Tool Rental portfolio. He has also served as a District Manager across multiple districts and as a Store Manager in Brockton, Massachusetts, and Wilmington, North Carolina. Prior to joining Lowe’s, Sean held several leadership positions at Shaw’s Supermarkets. Sean is deeply committed to community involvement and inclusion. He has volunteered with the Autism Society of North Carolina for more than 11 years and serves on the Board of Directors for Rebuilding Together of Greater Charlotte. In addition, he is the Executive Sponsor for the ABLE Business Resource Group, where he actively advocates for diversity and inclusion as essential to creating a welcoming and supportive workplace.

David Rice

David Rice is an Executive Vice President and Deputy General Counsel in Wells Fargo’s Legal Department, leading a team of legal professionals in the Commercial Banking Division He has been in this position since December 2021 and is based in Charlotte, N.C. Mr. Rice has served at Wells Fargo and predecessor companies for more than 22 years. He began his legal career in private practice in Tampa, Florida. Mr. Rice earned a B.S. in business administration from the University of Florida and a J.D., cum laude, from Stetson University College of Law.

Dan Rountree

Board Member

Dan Rountree is the Anti-Money Laundering Officer for USAA and a currently serving Board Member for Veterans Bridge Home. He is a strong advocate for making the transition from military life to the civilian world easier for all Veterans. Dan previously served as a Military Intelligence Officer in the United States Army and as the United States Financial Attache to Afghanistan for the United States Department of the Treasury.

Frank Van Buren

Frank Van Buren is the founder and managing director of Van Buren Advisory (VBA), a Charlotte-based talent development firm launched in 2024. VBA delivers leadership and professional-skills training to organizations and individuals, from early-career professionals to senior executives. Through a partnership with Training The Street, VBA integrates technical finance training with leadership development to deliver end-to-end talent solutions. With 26 years at Wells Fargo across investment banking, sales & trading, and talent development, Frank specializes in helping organizations transition high-performing individual contributors into effective leaders in the AI era. A former UH-60 Blackhawk pilot, he holds an MBA from UNC Kenan-Flagler and serves on the boards of Veterans Bridge Home and Shippensburg University’s College of Business.

Anthony Weekly

Board Member

Anthony Weekly is Chief Community Reinvestment Act Officer at Truist Financial Corporation. In this role, he’s responsible for collaborating with community development partners and regulators to help meet the credit needs of low-to-moderate-income (LMI) individuals and communities in Truist markets. He also leads financial wellness initiatives for LMI communities and capacity building for charitable and nonprofit organizations, such as community development institutions. 

Weekly joined Truist in 2015, bringing over 30 years of sales, leadership, strategic project management, and recruiting experience with progressive responsibilities in the mortgage banking and financial services industries. In his previous role at Truist, he was the head of mortgage strategic growth, where he identified profitable growth strategies and opportunities in the marketplace with a primary focus on the underserved, first-time homebuyers, millennials, and inclusive lending (African Americans, Asians, Hispanics, LGBTQ, Veterans, Women, and People with Disabilities). 

Before joining Truist, Weekly served in various leadership roles in the mortgage industry, including senior vice president/head of mortgage division at Fifth Third Bank – Georgia and Eastern Michigan. 

Weekly volunteers with a host of industry organizations and nonprofits, including serving in an advisory capacity with the National Housing Conference’s National Advisory Council and the Consumer Bankers Association CRA Committee.  

Additionally, he serves as a board member of the National Association of Affordable Housing Lenders, Bankers Community Collaborative Council National Community Reinvestment Coalition, and Veterans Bridge Home.  

Weekly earned his bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Detroit Mercy. He’s a graduate of Michigan Military Academy and a former second lieutenant in the Army National Guard. Weekly also is a graduate of the Consumer Bankers Association Executive Leadership program at Furman University. 

Brian Weisker

Board Member

Brian R. Weisker Senior Vice President and President, Natural Gas Business Duke Energy 

As senior vice president and president of Duke Energy’s natural gas business, Brian Weisker is responsible for the company’s regulated natural gas operations in the Carolinas, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee, including subsidiary Piedmont Natural Gas. He has more than 30 years of experience in the energy industry and began his career as a nuclear submarine officer, serving on three separate fast attack submarines. 

A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Weisker graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in aerospace engineering. He also earned a Master of Business Administration from Tulane University. In addition to serving on the Veterans Bridge Home board, he serves on Kentucky’s Energy Planning and Inventory Commission and the boards of directors of the American Gas Association, SGA Natural Gas Association and the Charlotte, N.C., Chapter of the American Heart Association. 

Jamie Westmoreland

Jamie Westmoreland serves as a Senior Vice President in Commercial Banking for Regions, bringing more than 25 years of experience in the banking industry, all within the Charlotte region. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina, is a graduate of the LSU Graduate School of Banking, and maintains the Certified Treasury Professional™ (CTP) designation. Jamie brings seasoned financial expertise to the Board of Directors of Veterans Bridge Home and holds a strong personal connection to its mission, as both of his grandfathers served in the United States military during World War II. 

Lisa Yankie

Board Member

Lisa Yankie is the CHRO of Odyssey Logistics, a global multimodal transportation provider backed by The Jordan Company. A seasoned Global Human Resources executive, she previously served as CHRO of Dentsply Sirona, partnering with the CEO and Board on executive compensation, culture, and C‑suite succession while leading the organization through the Covid‑19 crisis. She has held executive roles at Ford, Bank of America, Domtar, and SPX, bringing deep cross‑industry insight and a track record of strengthening leadership, culture, and organizational performance. Lisa comes from a family with a strong tradition of military service, including her father’s Navy service. 

Tia Young

Brigadier General Twanda E. “Tia” Young is a senior executive leader and U.S. Army veteran with more than 33 years of experience driving organizational performance and transformation. During her tenure as Deputy Commanding General at Human Resources Command, she managed a $2.9 billion portfolio and led enterprise-wide change through the COVID-19 pandemic. 

As CEO of LT3 Leadership Solutions, she delivers customized leadership development and executive coaching grounded in her proven P3 Mentality and SID Law frameworks, helping organizations build resilient, accountable, high-performing leaders. She also serves as an Executive in Residence at Bowie State University, lecturing on leadership development, conflict management, and career management for emerging and mid-career professionals. A dynamic speaker and best-selling author, BG Young is recognized for translating purpose into measurable results and leadership into lasting organizational impact.
